This week started the process of designing our set for production. I was aware of how the process went and what needed to be done, or so I thought. We learned most everything from power tool use, cutting wood, building frames, skinning, using a router tool, connecting set walls, all the way to realizing that measuring is extremely important. We have spent a total of two, eight hour, days, working on our set and will hopefully be done with the walls within our next class time. It has been quite an experience of learning with my 16mm film crew.
Our set design is simplistic for the most part. We have a bedroom scene and a scene inside of a wizard’s hut, which is proving to be an interesting build. Overall, I think this production will go smoothly. Hopefully smoother than the preproduction has been going. We spend one week shooting and will have it done and ready to edit for the month after production. Definitely a great learning process overall and being able to use 16mm format on the ARRI 416.
