The song listed above is a great song on disc three of Queen’s Greatest Hits CD. A great song by Queen with some stellar keyboard action happening.

On to another note, the main topic of tonight. I hung out with some friends at Steak n Shake around 11:00pm, then headed downtown to take pictures of some classmates that would be playing music on a street corner and make money. Seeing as I screwed them over last time because I had fallen asleep, it was imperative that I go, and I am very grateful that I did. Alex Vo, the guitarist and main vocalist, Lance Montey, on the harmonica with occasional vocals, and Al Krakosky on drums. The three together formed and started going downtown on weekends to make money and I assume have a great time, because it looks like they did.

Here are a few pictures of the night. And if any of you were there that night that are looking for the pictures I mentioned, just scroll down below and you should be there. If no, there are more pictures posted on my flickr account, which you can find if you click here. Without further ado, I present you pictures from an enjoyable night/morning of my friends playing music as well as people getting their groove on and having fun.

The notorious band from Teignmouth, Devon, Muse, is about to release another album. The Resistance is going to be released in the United States of America on September 14th, 2009. I don’t know about most other opinions, but I am quite stoked about this happening. About two weeks ago, Muse had created a new website for their fans to take part in an online “treasure hunt” The treasure hunt was pretty elaborate in which fans/users had to go to seven locations around the world to help unlock sections of the song “United States of Eurasia.”

For those of you that know me personally know that Muse is by far my favorite band and it can get to be an obsession at some point. I tend to look at their music as unique, not really sounding much like anyone else. It doesn’t do justice when people complain and say that Muse wants to be Radiohead. Just because a rock band sounds like someone else doesn’t mean it’s stolen, just that they are similar styles in certain areas.

Two songs are out for their new album, The Resistance. Those songs are “Unites States of Eurasia + Collateral Damage,” and “Uprising.” Both songs are great sounding and very different from each other, which is great when on the same album. I am definitely interested in hearing the three-part symphony when it comes out on CD.

If you haven’t had the chance, definitely check out their music and buy each album. Most of, if not all, in my opinion, their music sounds completely different within each album. Also check out their H.A.A.R.P. Live DVD in which they sold out Wembley Stadium two nights in a row, playing what looked to be an awesome show.

I know people have different taste in music, but my mind can’t wrap around how someone could dislike this band. But I suppose each person has their own preference and no matter what it may be, I will respect it. Go ahead and check them and their music out and look for their new album releasing in September.

And of course it would be funny to hear me say that I have beaten the notion of emotion. I am able to resist acting on a memory and move on with my life and what is ahead of me. It used to happen to me all the time, calling friends from back home just to talk and perhaps share a memory that I recalled that day. I can’t lie, I was listening to Scatman in my car and I called Kropiewnicki to let him know, or maybe it was Robbie. I called one of them. Long story short, that group, the Fantastic 4, created a video of them dancing to the song. Basically, within the course of high school, we got a group of our friends to all dance to it, hence the memories.

Not all memories are bad. And what I mean by bad memories is the urge to call someone about something that is irrelevant now. I’ve discovered why I expected so much out of people. It is because without knowing it, my mind is wanting the same response that I had when the memory happened, but it never shows.

To go on with my story, I went to a concert tonight. There were three opening bands, which was three too many in my opinion. One of the three bands I didn’t mind so much, and almost got swayed into buying their new EP. Perhaps I can find it online? To continue with the night, Mae finally came on stage. To reduce the length of another long story, I shall summarize. A girl I dated in high school made me listen to Mae because of a word they said in their lyrics in that specific song. In first starting to talk to her, I mentioned her being ‘Fragile’. And some time shortly after, I was in her car listening to ‘breakdown’, a song by Mae. Like I said, the song grew on me, and I actually enjoyed most of what was on that cd. Years down the road, I am here now, and the irony of that song finally hit the both of us. That girl and I talk maybe twice every month or two.

To connect the pieces, if not transparent enough, I felt the memories rush over me as that song played. It was the 3rd song on their set-list that night, and quite honestly, that is all I had really wanted to hear. The thing that struck me most, and it does each day, is that you never know where you’ll be in a couple of years. A prime example is going to Florida for the first time in my life the summer before my freshman year of high school. I was going for vacation with family. Sophomore year band trip, again, Florida, for a band competition. 3 years later and I now live in Florida.

What I am trying to get at is to look. Look into the past, or maybe the present. Look right now at who you are, perhaps what you do and what you want to do. I never once was listening to Mae and thought to myself, “You know what Casey? It’d be cool if two to three years you’d be somewhere for college and end up at a concert with Mae where they play that song.” I didn’t think to myself both times in Florida that I might live here someday.

There I was, sitting down because my back was hurting from standing, and I thought that it was pretty strange to be standing in front of this band and listening to them play a song that at one point in life meant something of a great deal to me. I am sure many people have this situation to some extremity or another. I am not really sure how to describe it, so I suppose I won’t even bother.

I am home and procrastinating on getting to bed. I don’t know what happened, but for awhile I was doing an amazing job at going to bed at or before midnight each night. I’ll have to dig up that habit again. New photography for those who are interested. Below is an image of one of the few from today. Enjoy
